Vicki Leopold was originally trained as a press photographer and spent the first eight years of her career shooting for a national newspaper based in Auckland.  This is said to have shaped the way she sees pictures, her reportage and emotive style of shooting people developing from these early photojournalism days.

During her time as a press photographer she also freelanced for magazines shooting portraits along with food, travel and lifestyle stories both around New Zealand and overseas, including locations such as Bali and Mexico.

Vicki enjoyed a smooth transition from editorial to advertising photography, her authentic style of shooting being popular with creatives and designers. Her natural ability to capture the beauty, rawness, fun spontaneity or vulnerability in her subjects, shows in her extensive portfolios which are full of advertising campaigns for major brands including; Commonwealth Bank, Microsoft, Panadol, Unilever and ANZ Bank.

Vicki creates compelling stories in her stills work with personal projects being very important to her. These include a gritty documentary series she shot inside The Long Bay Mens Maximum Security Prison in Maroubra, Sydney and a beautiful moody series shot in New Orleans documenting the workers and environment of a cigar factory.

Along with her stills work, Vicki also directs TVC’s and online content projects, most recently finishing multiple filming projects for ANZ, Persil and Lotto.  To view her directing work please visit our specialised motion division,
